Melissa Kicks Cancer

Melissa is a hard-working, independent, single mother of 2 beautiful young girls. Within the past year, Melissa felt that something was not right with her health, and set about seeing multiple professionals to diagnose the problem. One doctor finally listened, did the proper testing to locate the problem, and Melissa was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. She had fortunately caught the cancer early and underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment. 

After the completion of her treatment, she still was still experiencing pain and fatigue. It took weeks for her to get an in-person appointment where they could perform a proper scan of her body. Tragically, the cancer came back, and it had spread. Melissa is currently in Stage 4 and will begin another round of chemotherapy and radiation treatment immediately.

This will not break her. Melissa has the mentality of a warrior and *will* beat this. However, the likelihood is that she will be physically weakened during her chemo treatment and will not be able to work full-time. As a result, Melissa will need financial assistance. We are asking that people do what they can to support Melissa financially during this challenging yet hopeful time. Anything you can give will be from the heart and will bless Melissa and her girls. 

Her oldest daughter Aliyah just graduated high school and will be attending Long Beach Poly in the fall. Her youngest daughter will be in the 4th grade attending school in Portland. 

Melissa has dedicated her life to raising her girls and serving her community. She is a Social Worker for Multnomah County, Oregon, where she helps some of Portland's most vulnerable transition into living on their own. She is selfless, fun-loving, fierce, and thoughtful. Anything you can give Melissa during this time will be a true blessing to her and her family.
