In Memory of Melissa Kirkpatrick

As everyone knows, Melissa was involved in a terrible car accident in February 2019. She became paralyzed as a result of this accident. Over the past three years, Melissa has exhibited the most amazing strength of anyone I have ever met. Although she was in chronic pain, she was a force for her family and supported them unwaveringly. Unfortunately, the injuries she sustained in the car accident were too much for her body to bear. She had become progressively more sick over this past year. Last week, Melissa was admitted to the hospital. Although she was incredibly strong in spirit, her body was unable to keep up. She was able to say goodbye to her children and spend her last moments with her husband, Karl before she passed this morning, 12/16.

Melissa was my best friend, she was like a sister to me. She has had one of the most profound impacts on my life. She was an amazing stepmother, friend, wife, co-worker and boss. She will be missed.

I am holding this fundraiser for Karl and her children, Chance and Jasmine. Karl was not able to officially adopt the children before, but he is currently in the process of doing that right now. The money will help cover the legal expenses and go to support the children, as Melissa was the primary breadwinner.
