Melissa Lockwood's Medical Expenses

In early April, Melissa went to urgent care thinking she had a double ear infection days before a planned Alaskan cruise. They went ahead with the vacation as she felt better with some meds, but she unexpectedly became worse on board, eventually being evacuated to a local hospital in Alaska.

After again feeling better after several days of hospitalization, she was discharged and traveled home to Alabama. The morning they got home, Melissa woke up unable to breathe with her heart beating out of her chest and feeling like she was going to die. She was able to call 911 before passing out again, and was admitted to the hospital with a 105.3 fever and her oxygen at 80%.

She has spent several weeks in the hospital, at times critically ill. Melissa and her family wish for a certain level of privacy regarding her symptoms and journey so far in the hospital, and she is still looking at weeks of hospitalization and recovery.

From the hospitalization and treatment on board the cruise ship, to the several days of hospitalization in Alaska, and now the multiple weeks of hospitalization, testing, and treatment in Alabama, Melissa will have to face substantial medical bills.

Anyone who knows Melissa knows that she is an absolute light in the lives of those she touches. She is happy, fun, optimistic, caring, considerate, loving, generous, encouraging... literally everything good in the world contained in one human. She never asks anything of anyone, even when she should. As her friends, we want to try to help her as much as we can and provide her with any amount of relief moving forward.

Even in this horribly difficult time, Melissa is trusting in God and praising His name. He has already worked miracles with her and we are so thankful for everyone's thoughts and prayers! Keep them coming!
