Melissa Mitchell's Fight Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
As many of you are aware, my younger sister was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor in January. Though, undoubtedly terrified, she has had a positive attitude through this new journey in her life. She was always sure to comfort others and herself by saying "wegotthis"! She has proven to show tremendous courage and strength through her battle. She showed up for radiation and chemo treatments for 21 days - ready to give it her all with a smile on her face. She was worn down but kept going, defying odds in how her body "should have" reacted to the treatments.
Unfortunately, things took a wrong turn at the end of March and cancer treatments have since been put on hold. Melissa was diagnosed with viral pneumonia and ended up being hooked up to a mechanical ventilator while fully sedated for over 20 days. She has since been given a tracheotomy and is starting to wean off the ventilator. She shows progress each and every single day while recovering in a long-term acute care facility.
She has endured more than anyone could ever imagine in these past 4 months. She is physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausted, but still giving it her all. She and her family want nothing more than for her to get healthy and be at home!
The medical bills keep piling up. She has had multiple hospital stays, ambulance transfers, cancer treatments, physical therapy, scans, and the list goes on! She has a long road ahead of her. Many people have reached out asking how they can help! If you have the means to donate, no matter the amount, it will be greatly appreciated! Thank you all for the continuous support and endless prayers!
