Melissa Moody’s Cancer Crew

In April of 2018, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma of the left breast. Triple Negative Breast Cancer. It’s a very aggressive form of the cancer. It was like getting a rug pulled out from underneath your feet. I did all the conventional treatment. 16 cycles of Chemotherapy, major surgery, 33 rounds of radiation, and 6 rounds of oral chemo. I also entered a clinical trial for an immunotherapy drug. I wasn’t chosen to get that drug but was placed in “observation”. On August 18th of this year, I started having horrible headaches and honestly hoped it was only migraines returning after a 2 year respite. A PET scan revealed the worst of my fears. The cancer had returned and it brought friends. As of now, I have cancer in my spine, skull, upper right arm, lung, liver, adrenals  and hip.  So...this crew is about to start another fight. 
The first battle found me with a relatively healthy body to start, a bank account that, while not full, at least was paying bills and able to keep up. And I only missed a few months of work. I have a wonderful support team. My family is absolutely amazing and I have not lacked for anything. But this new battle finds me in a new and precarious position. Tomorrow I begin new chemo called Abraxane and a very exciting immunotherapy drug called Tecentriq. I am weakened and have been unable to work due to pain. January will find me with a bright, shiny new “out of pocket”, rent, car payment and insurance and health insurance.  I am very independent and this is hard to ask for help. I have always prided myself on being a good steward with my money.  Any and all funds raised here will go toward my living expenses and medical bills. No trips or toys. Let me just say now, thank you in advance for your generosity. I count myself as one of the luckiest ladies in the world.
