Melissa Mourey

Hello, my name is Jeff. I am setting up this fundraiser for Melissa Mourey. She is a very close longtime friend and family to us. She has been fighting cancer since 2018. She has exhausted numerous surgeries and treatments to be told there is nothing else she can do from her Doctors. She, as well as myself, has been investigating alternative treatments with Holistic medicines. She is strong and determined to fight and beat this terrible disease. This fund will be for her to go out of state and get the treatment she needs to live a better life and pave the way for many fighting this terrible disease. Below is the story her family has written about their struggles.

Melissa is a lifelong resident of Decatur County. She is happily married to Frank Mourey and is celebrating 38 years this July. They have raised 2 children together. Jessica Adkins of Greensburg and Anthony Mourey. They have five beautiful grandchildren that they adore spending time with. Justin Adkins (18),Myles Adkins (13). Melissa was diagnosed in November 2018 with a rare cancer called Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) a cancer of the smooth muscle. Melissa has endured multiple surgeries, numerous rounds of chemo, and the latest treatment of radiation. February 7, 2024, Melissa was advised that no further conventional treatment should be done due to what she has been through, and the goal for the duration of her life would be to keep her comfortable and give her quality of life rather than quantity.

Melissa and her family and friends are not accepting this as the end. With lots of prayer and research, Melissa has sought alternative holistic treatments. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover this type of treatment. We are asking for any donation you can give to help with travel expenses for treatment, treatment, and medication that will be needed, as well as doctor and medical expenses.
