Melissa Stratton's home
Melissa Stratton, of Mystic Seaport Museum’s finance department, family experienced an electrical fire in their Westerly home last week. Fortunately no overt flames ever broke out, but there was heavy smoke and water damage as a result of the fire department efforts. Everyone in Melissa’s family of six got out okay but Melissa’s sister Heather, who is disabled, was exposed to smoke and was hospitalized briefly. The family is staying at the LaQuinta Hotel in Pawcatuck.
Everything will have to be emptied out of the family house and basement so that needed re-wiring can happen. This is in addition to the repairs needed for smoke and water damage. They were told to expect to be out of the house for a minimum of one month so they are looking for a short-term rental, on one floor. Any thoughts or assistance in this regard is greatly appreciated.
Melissa’s church family, UCC Westerly/Pawcatuck is recommending gift cards to local restaurants as well as cash donations to support the Stratton family through this crisis. Her Mystic Seaport Museum family is joining forces and requesting support from anyone who would like to assist.
Thank you on behalf of Melissa, her dad Ed, mom Judy, sister Heather, brother Dan, and niece Emma!
