Dear Friends,
Our wonderful colleague Melissa was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2019. Sadly after much treatment in the last year, Mel has been told that her cancer is inoperable. Mel is positive and optimistic about what the future will bring and is exploring what alternative treatments she can try, to overcome this cancer.
Mel is one of our animal technicians that cares for our mice and rats at Lab Animal Services and is a passionate advocate for animal welfare. Mel is always at the forefront of researching what we could do to improve welfare and cares abundantly for our animals. Mel is a mad keen conservationist and continues to devote time to looking out for endangered species like the 3 toed sloth from Costa Rica. She marvels at the animals across the globe and has volunteered in a number of places around the world in her quest to help the animals and learn from others with the same passions.
We know that Mel would like to go on a trip before she starts chemo again and we are fundraising to help her achieve her dream. We want Mel to know that we are thinking of her and support her and hope that you can join us in giving something to help her get to Africa.
