Meet Melissa Rippel. Melissa is a strong, courageous, beautiful 35 year old from Edison, New Jersey. She has the Jersey "sailor mouth" and charming sass to prove it! Melissa is the daughter of loving parents Alan and Marilyn Sehein and the over protected sister to brothers Chris (U.S Coast Guard), Derrick (U.S Navy), and A.J (accomplished carpenter). Melissa is a master stylist at Modern Chic Salon & Spa. She is admired and appreciated by her salon family and clientele. Melissa also has a gym family, Iron Works, that simply adores her.
Melissa met her passionate husband Paul at a local bar in Toledo, The Distillery. She admits it was her that made the first move, but both describe it as love at first sight. Melissa and Paul have been married for seven beautiful years.
Melissa and Paul are both dedicated to fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Both enjoy the outdoors and are always up to challenging each other. Melissa has shown great discipline to work her mind and body into shape to perform in elite races and perform in professional body building competitions. Melissa will now be going face to face with her biggest challenge...cancer.
Melissa and Paul where ready to start the next chapter, having children. They both had established careers and were ready to start trying to have a baby. Melissa had an existing lump previously tested and shown to be benign that she was going to now have removed. Both wanted to go into the next phase with clean bill of health before getting pregnant. On April 3 Melissa got the phone call that hiding behind that lump was another mass and it was cancer. That afternoon Melissa was diagnosed with invasive/aggressive triple negative non-hormonal breast cancer. She will undergo a mastectomy Wednesday, May 3rd, followed by 5 months of chemotherapy. After chemotherapy Melissa will then go through the reconstructive process.
Melissa and Paul will be using this money to pay medical bills, as well as the monthly bills every young couple already have. Cash donations and letters of inspiration can also be dropped of at Modern Chic Salon & Spa . More informatin on events and fundraisers for Melissa will be posted.
