Melissa's Belfast Marathon fundraiser for Aimee

Hi my name is Aimee. I am 29 years old and suffer with a neurological condition known as FND, which has left me paralyzed in both legs and left arm, leaving me with only the use of my right arm from the elbow down. I am catheterised, suffer from seizures, live with chronic pain to the point where I can only lie down. I am unable to eat or drink and so I am fed through a tube for 22 hours a day. Everyday, I live with nausea, vomiting, bloating and cramping in my digestive tract too.

I am now 1 year into my current flare up with my condition which has left me completely isolated since I am unable to do anything at only 29 years old, I never imagined my life to be like this. With many treatments exhausted at this stage myself at home in Ireland. We have discovered a potential treatment option in London but it comes with a cost.

I need to raise money to firstly, have an assessment with this specialised team in London. I will then be told if I am eligible for treatment which will be the second reason to raise funds as this will be the vital part of this process.

The cost of this treatment is beyond affordable but I cannot sit at home wondering if this was my chance at living a meaningful life again and what if? What if this would have worked? What if I could get walking, or eating or even drinking a sip of water again. I first need to raise 3000 pounds for my initial consultation. I have recently found out I have been accepted for this treatment at a price of €130,000 Please note if there is anything left over from after my treatment, it will go to a well needed charity.
