Melissa’s recovery and Kevin’s medical & funeral expenses
Donation protected
On New Year's Eve, our dear friends, Melissa Cabrera and Kevin Vallesteros, were severely injured in an enormous fireworks explosion which occurred in Aliamanu, Oahu. The tragic accident resulted in the loss of innocent lives and left more than 2-dozen seriously/critically injured.
Authorities said a fireworks “cake” with roughly 50 illegal aerial rockets in it tipped over and fired into a carport that set off more fireworks inside.
Melissa and Kevin were two, of six, victims that were flown, by the U.S. Air Force, to the Diane & Bruce Halle Arizona Burn Center Valleywise Health in Phoenix, AZ.
Melissa is in critical condition after sustaining burns over 67% of her body and remains in a medically induced coma.
Sadly, Kevin was not able to overcome his injuries and passed away on January 28, 2025. He had sustained burns over 82% of his body in addition to having additional, life-threatening injuries, including a compound fracture to his leg, and was fighting infections.
Melissa’s parents, Michelle and Nelson Cabrera, are currently caring for Melissa and Kevin’s 3-month-old infant son.
We are reaching out and kindly asking for your support. Any contribution, big or small, will help alleviate the financial burden on the Cabrera and Vallesteros families.
Melissa’s father, Nelson, is the beneficiary of this fundraiser. All monies raised will be equally distributed to support Melissa’s medical expenses, Kevin’s medical and funeral expenses, as well as providing for their 3-month-old son.
Thank you for your generosity, kindness, and prayers. It is greatly appreciated!
