Melissa's Militia

Melissa Griffin Roberts is a remarkable woman.  She has two amazing boys and shares happy memories with each and every friend she has.  And she has more friends, and people who care about her, than there are stars in the sky!  Her Facebook page looks more like a galactic constellation than a social media network! 

Any one of those friends knows Melissa has never backed down from a challenge.  She lives her life as brightly and in the open as the sun.  Currently, that tenacity for always seeking the bright side of life is being tested.   

Melissa and her boys now face one of the greatest challenges of their lives. Melissa has been diagnosed with Lymphoma.  Her treatment plan and full prognosis have not yet been completed, but already, the emotional and physical trials Melissa will face have begun.  

This is where her amazing network of support comes in.  This is where  a loving army,  Melissa's Mighty Militia, deploys!

Emotionally, the kind words, prayers, and motivational gestures are going to flow easily from around the county – they have already begun.  And she will need every bit of support her family and friends can provide in the trying days ahead.   

But besides the physically demanding medical treatments, she will have to endure more than that – she must also face the financial strain of fighting this new battle.  The financial burden of her treatment and care have already begun to become part of her daily concerns.

Melissa needs to focus on her healing, and nothing else should interrupt that process.  Her family and friends cannot change the diagnosis, but we can relieve the financial burden. 

As a single mom, she has always made her boys her top priority, often ignoring her own needs to ensure her sons have everything they could possibly need or want.  But now, it’s her turn.   

This “Go-Fund-Me” account is for Melissa.  I am asking that each of you reflect upon the many times this beautiful woman has made you laugh and brought joy into your life.  When you do, consider how valuable her life is to you.
