Byers Oswald home restoration
Donation protected
On May 23rd, Idaho Falls experienced heavy downpours and flash flooding. Our friends Melody Byers and Jason Oswald's home on the numbered streets is in a low area that experienced severe flooding. Their home had extensive damage; more than 6 feet of water rushed into the basement when the pressure/weight of the after pushed open the basement door immediately filling the basement to the ceiling. Given the area drainage system was clogged, the water and debris stood in her home for days day before it could be pumped out and the damage assessed. As a result, the basement door, water heater, electrical system, washer/dryer, flooring, walls, and ceiling will have to be replaced. The full extent of the damage is still unknown as the water reached the basement ceiling and filled the vents throughout the house. They were trying to save belongings as the flood water began to seep in the basement but when the door burst open, they had to escape the rush it the water so almost everything was a total loss. The majority of their furnishings, emergency food/supplies, hunting supplies, and keepsakes were in the basement. They are devastated by the damage and can use our help. Please help if you can.
