Help support the MELS Speech Team continue their success!
Please join us at MELS Speaks!, a celebratory fundraiser, hosted at MELS on Tuesday, May 22 at 5:30. If you are unable to attend, please leave us some support here. Funds have been used to send students to the New York State Championships, travel to the Grand National Tournament, and subscribe to publications so our students can be up-to-date on current events research.
The Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School has seen the continued progress of its Speech & Debate Team. In our fifth year of competing in the Brooklyn- Queens Catholic Forensic League, we have qualified 15 students for the New York State Championship in Hempstead, NY and 7 students for the Grand National Tournament in Washington, DC.
More than anything else, we find our greatest success this season in building a supportive team dynamic that promotes leadership through speech. Students have created a positive atmosphere to practice public speaking and grown confident articulating their thoughts in their competitions, classes, and personal lives.
