Memorial and Homecoming of Shawna Rowe Casteel
Donation protected
Hi, we are the family of Shawna Rowe Casteel. Shawna was living in Somerset, Pennsylvania and it was her last wish to come home to Florida to be with her family that she dearly loved. Shawna's health had been in decline for some time. Her heart was slowly weakening. Her family was the most crucial thing in the world to her. She was ecstatic that she was to be moving back to Florida at the end of November this year to make her wish come true.
Unfortunately, before her dreams could come true her heart just had too much stress on it. On November 8, 2022, Shawna was found in a motorized buggy at a grocery store unresponsive and without a pulse. Emergency Medical Services were contacted. She was rushed to the nearest hospital and all measures were taken to preserve her life. She was able to be resuscitated, however, she received a traumatic brain injury due to a lack of oxygen in the process. No one knows how long she was in the buggy in the condition she was in before someone found her therefore it is impossible to know how long her brain went without the vital oxygen it needed. The brain injury left her having constant seizures in her brain. The part of the brain stem that regulates her body temperature was also injured so her body continuously spiked fevers.
On November 11, 2022, a family meeting was called. It was decided to remove her from the ventilator and call Comfort Care in for her. This was the hardest decision her family has ever had to make. They know that Shawna is a fighter and has always been so full of life. She has been through so many hardships. She has struggled with so many medical issues. But her family knows in their hearts that this is the right decision because they do not want to see her suffering and hurting anymore. Shawna is a Christian and she always talked about one day going to Heaven and being with Jesus and getting to see her Mama and Daddy again. Knowing that she knows her Lord and savior validates for her family that they are making the right decision.
Shawna was married for many years to someone who worked in the funeral business and she often talked about how she wanted things to be done when her time comes. Unfortunately, life sometimes gets in the way and things don't always go as planned. But one thing that she was very clear and adamant about was that when she passed away she wanted to be buried beside her Daddy( she was a daddy's girl through and through).
She was very close to both of her parents but it was her Daddy that she called home. Both of her parents are buried at Hope Baptist Cemetary along with her grandparents and the rest of her family. Her family's heart is in a million pieces and they can't begin to even understand how to pick them up. Their hearts have been shattered so hard by this. But it is one of those things that only God can help them heal from. They would like to have her cremated and have her ashes brought to Florida. They would like to have a vault put beside her daddy and have her buried per her wishes beside her daddy.
We are asking that you please help make her last wish come true and bring her back to Florida for her homecoming and burial. All funds will be used for the cremation, vault, burial, and celebration of life ceremony. Shawna was loved by many and she had a huge heart that loved everyone. Thank you.
