Memorial Buddy Bench in honor of Rosie Borden
Donation protected
Rosie Borden spent over 20 years taking care of the Dighton Elementary School community as our school nurse. She truly was one of the most caring, compassionate and thoughtful people to walk this earth. Not only did she care for the children and staff of DES she was very involved in the community. If she heard about a need, she would do everything in her power to make sure the people involved received the care they deserved. She would collect hats, mittens and jackets for children in need in the winter months and coordinated fundraisers like Daffodils Days for cancer and Go Red for heart disease. Rosie was a friend and blessing to everyone who knew her.
Rosie passed away unexpectedly in May of 2022. We would like to honor this BEAUTIFUL woman with a memorial Buddy Bench that would be placed on our DES playground. A Buddy Bench is a place to foster new friendships. A place to sit when you want to find someone new to play with. A place that encourages inclusion and eliminates loneliness. We would also like to purchase the book, The Buddy Bench by Patty Brozo for each classroom at Dighton Elementary. Rosie fostered inclusion and the love of reading in all her years as a school nurse.
