Memorial Day Weekend Hike to Stop Soldier Suicide

“I am only one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
What I can do, that I ought to do.
And what I ought to do, by the grace of God, I shall.”
Edward Everett Hale, the distinguished poet and former Chaplain of the U.S. Senate, with those words, eloquently captured the essence of every American’s duty.
Memorial day is a day on which those who died in active military service are remembered, and rightly so. But we must also remember the thousands of soldiers who have fought and succumbed to the silent battles of depression, PTSD and mental trauma! Many combat veterans bore deep physical and mental pain years after coming home from the battlefield and these wounds often result in more lives lost and families upended.
My mission is to raise awarenes and needed funds to help organizations change the troubling trajectory of veteran suffering and suicide. In light of the trauma and mental health crises so many of our veterans face, our effort to help them can’t be and won't be a “one-and-done”… So this year, my Golden Retriever Luna and I will once again set out on our 2 day, 50 mile hike, this year to help two worhwhile charities, "Stop Soldier Suicide" as we did last year, and also our Rochester NY Veterans Outreach Center!
Generous donations from so many of you helped us raise over $3,000 last year, and it's my goal to meet or exceed that again. Please consider a donation here, or think of your own way to help change the data on soldier suicide, homelesness and crisis!
Thank you,
Rob Hayes ( & Luna)
