Memorial for Chloe Dudley
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jess.
I'd love to raise £800 to buy 2 pieces of inclusion Jewellery and a memorial bench for my friend.
My friends daughter has sadly passed away aged only 13.
Chloe had 1p36 deletion syndrome. 1p36 is a rare chromosomal anomaly which causes a range of health issues such as seizures, heart defects, poor speech, and prenatal onset growth deficiency. After battling multiple daily seizures, scoliosis, recurrent chest infections and other medical problems Chloe sadly passed away recently in Martin House children's hospice.
I would love to be able to buy Chloe's older sister and her Mum a piece of inclusion jewellery with Chloe's ashes in and have enough leftover to buy a memorial bench for them to put somewhere close to the family's heart where they can sit and remember their beautiful little girl.
Any donations left after these items have been bought will be donated to Martin House who took such wonderful care of Chloe in her final days.
Thank you for reading ❤️
Chloe's Eulogy written by her dad Peter.
Chloe Niamh Dudley was born in 2008, we were told she would probably be with us for a
year if we were lucky. She proved everyone wrong by sharing in our lives for 13
years. Despite the ups and downs surrounding her care requirements, she brought a lot of joy to our lives and those she came into contact with along the way.
Chloe was loved by many people and known by many more, we always said she had a bigger following than Facebook. She was renowned to be a scruff, within minutes of brushing her hair, for example, you turn away
and when you looked back it was quite often as it had been before it was brushed. It was things like this that gave her the nickname of ‘Scraggy’, she could often be seen in her pyjamas and fluffy socks.
She acquired several nicknames, one of the most well known ones, due to her size, was Dolly named by Liz who coincidently was the
same weight as Chloe when she was born at just 4lb 10oz, this name was adopted by several of the school staff. She was also known to Val one of her teaching assistants as ‘Bubbles’ we never did know why.
She first started at Springwater school in 2011 and when she wasn’t asleep she made quite an impression on all the staff.
She loved to be in the kitchen whilst one of us was baking, she would receive a running commentary of the recipe and method and
when with her dad was quite happy to listen to his music from the ‘80s, much to the disgust of Liz and Phoebe.
She also Spent some time in the garden during potato planting which she enjoyed so much she usually fell asleep, that's appreciation for you, that’s Chloe for you.
On her 11th birthday Liz put a request on Facebook to see if we could get 11 birthday cards for her. She became known
internationally, and received 267 birthday cards from complete strangers across
the globe, from as far as Australia, America and Europe. The whole of the staff in the Post Office, Harrogate and Ripon branches and several of the staff in Morrison's sent cards to a little girl many had never met but had already captured their hearts.
Several years ago we remember a trip with friends to Blackpool, the bedroom was a bit small so the only way round this was to put
half of her travel cot in the wardrobe to give us space. So she literally slept in the wardrobe, which some may have been appalled at but Chloe didn’t seem to mind at all.
She used to go to the Donkey Sanctuary and ride the donkeys but I don’t know of anyone falling asleep on the back of one whist still riding it, she certainly knew how to give her carers a run for their money.
She often had that cheeky look in her eyes when there was a crisis, at home it could be as simple as dropping a plate or smashing a
glass, but if the news was on and there had been a major disaster she had a naughty habit of laughing or giggling right on queue. Some of this was down to seizure activity, which we knew as giggle fits, but some was her being a tinker and having impeccable timing much to the amusement of all of us.
As a family we would like to thank everyone that knew or had any contact with Chloe, in whatever capacity, for your kind words and
thoughts at this time and leave you with this thought.
Chloe is now starting on a new journey, one we can’t accompany her on. A light has gone out of our lives but shines brighter in our hearts and amongst the stars at night.
Chloe passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, 13 January 2022.
