Irene Cecilia Avila born October 31, 1940 passed away surrounded by family on, January 17, 2020. In Lieu of flowers please contribute to the “Memorial for Irene Avila/Justice for Missy Fund”.
Irene Avila lost her only daughter Missy to a brutal murder in 1985. Irene never received full justice for the pre-meditated murder of her daughter. Missy’s friends had turned killers and were sentenced to 2nd degree murder and both have since been released from prison. One of the killers wrote two books that slander both Missy & Irene. We changed a law in California in 2015 and stopped the killer from profiting off her crime and then she moved out of state and wrote another book.
The Avila’s joined forces with Crime Victims United to submit a new law this year (hopefully a Federal law) in honor of Missy. The law would instill that murderers, pedophiles and rapist, released from prison, will not “Profit” from the crime of a “MINOR” victim in any media. As of now, there is no law in the United States that prevents murderers from profiting off the crime they committed.
