Memorial for Jeanie to Benefit Jake
I would like to share a story about my friend Jeanie. A wonderful woman lost her battle Wednesday with the nastiness that is Cancer and left behind a teen son with Down syndrome.
Now as a single mom, when she first was diagnosed with cancer and realizing she had no family that would have the ability to care for Jake, Jeanie set out to search for an alternative caregiver in case the inevitable did happen. It was the bravest thing I have ever witnessed another person having to do, and as a parent myself could not imagine having to undertake this task.
When Jake's life was upended from the home that he knew in Florida so that Jeanie could get the medical care that she needed here in Massachusetts, it became clear that Jeanie was going to have more challenges involving getting Jake educated. Fortunately a school placement was found and Jake became settled into what would be his new normal. 
Along this route, Jeanie and Jake met and bonded with an amazing teacher that would soon become more than just a teacher to the Manning family. Kerry Bremer came to Jeanie as an angel on earth and stepped up and offered to bring Jake into her family of 5 should Jeanie's cancer win. Jeanie and The Bremer family worked together to slowly help Jake become familiar with what could turn out to be his new family.
Well unfortunately on Wednesday, 11/13/19, after Jeanie put Jake on the bus, she went back into the house to go back to sleep (as chemo has a way of taking any and all energy out of ones body) only this time she just didn't wake up.
As promised, Kerry immediately came and got Jake and is now in the process of helping Jake cope with what will be his new life. I am now reaching out to the community to get this family some help. Jeanie had lots of love to give but materialistically very little. This is going to be a long road for all involved and I am hoping that we can come together with some help. No amount is too small. Please consider helping.
