Memorial for Kathie Edwards

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the most lovable, snarky, and vivacious woman, Kathie Edwards. She passed away on the morning of April 17 at home in her sleep.

Her family, Tina, Toni, Patti and Sarah, have been consistently by her side the past few weeks as she has struggled in and out of the hospital with health issues. Tina mentioned that Kathie kept singing all the songs she could think of that bid a fond farewell, such as "See Ya Around" and "The Party's Over.” Kathie left this world singing all the way to the end. Now, we know she's woodshedding on the heavenly risers with her beloved husband Owen, who preceded her in death quite a few years ago, along with so many of her dear, dear friends.

Kathie comes from a long line of barbershoppers, and has been a very big part of the men’s barbershop community her entire life. She and her husband Owen worked for the local men’s district, and they knew just about EVERYBODY in both the men’s and women’s organizations. Kathie sang a mean baritone, and is a Regional Champion (1979) with her quartet "Classic Tradition.” She lent her baritone to several choruses across her lifetime, one being Agoura Hills Harmony Chorus (AHH!) She joined in 1992, a year after the chorus’s inception, and sang for several decades with her sisters of AHH! She was one of several mother/daughter combos in the chorus over the years, and loved to quartet with her daughters, and eventually her granddaughter. She truly embodied the legacy her father instilled in her. Kathie was recently honored with AHH!meritus status with her former chorus, Agoura Hills Harmony, and was a lifetime member. Her passion for harmony will forever be etched in the hearts of all she sang with. Kathie is well known in the barbershop world for being a comedic genius, and having an incredible sense of timing! She always had the audience rolling in the aisles!!! She had an easy and contagious laugh; she told it like it was, and didn't mince words. You always knew where you stood! While she tried to have a tough exterior, this special human would give you the shirt off her back! She had a heart of gold and was a kind, motherly figure to so many. Kathie was always so generous with her time and money over the decades with both the women's and men's organizations. There was never a fundraiser she missed.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life for June 2023. The cost of Kathie's care has put a financial strain on the family, and we are asking for your donations. Please consider contributing to this fund to help the family recover. A donation of any amount can help ensure that the harmony their mother/grandmother instilled in their lives, continues throughout their grieving process.
R.I.P. dear Kathie. We will forever be singing your praises. Until we meet again my friend ❤️.
