Memorial Fund for R.J. Harrod
Donation protected
Royce Harrod, Jay, to those who knew him, passed away peacefully on the morning of Christmas Eve December 24, 2021 in the comfort of his own home after a six-month battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He had just successfully completed his 6th round of chemotherapy and was looking forward to following up with his oncologist the following month. However, three days later, Jay developed septic shock and was hospitalized for over a month to treat the infection and allow him to recover. Unfortunately, his strength never returned. At his request, his family brought him home and cared for him in what became his unexpected last days of life.
Jay was a loving son, father, and grandfather who encouraged everyone to live their best lives. He cared for his father, Arthur, throughout his Alzheimer’s diagnosis. He helped rebuild his daughter's and niece's houses when a water leak almost destroyed it. He opened his doors to family who needed a place to stay. Moreover, in the last year he had the pleasure of watching his grandson grow.
Jay focused so much on helping others that his end of life plans went on the back burner. Without life insurance or a will, his family has been burdened with covering memorial fees, medical bills, and a probate attorney to help with legal requirements. Any contribution will help immensely and allow us to afford a memorial service during this difficult time. Thank you in advance.
