“To our free spirit Kizzle, who roamed the world and lived the life we could never imagine, who brought incredible joy and love to people across the world, who lost his life in Morocco. Our love and prayers are with you.”
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Knisely. Robert was an Air Force veteran of 12 years, and spent 10 years working in Afghanistan, but he was so much more. Robert was a loving son, brother and dear friend to all who got to know him. Robert was a bright spark in this world and will be deeply missed. If you had the privilege to know Robert, you know his kindness and generosity flowed in extreme abundance. He touched the lives of so many people all across the world. After his 10 years in Afghanistan, Robert was finally ready to travel the world, and begin living the life we all dreamed of, and left Afghanistan on April 30th, 2021. His travels took him to the beautiful country of Morocco, and it was there that he unexpectedly passed on May 14th, 2021. Robert’s family and friends were shocked by this surprising loss, and it is my intention to help his family with this unexpected financial responsibility. Robert spent his entire life giving and helping everyone within his reach and it’s our turn to give back to his family in their time of need. We are raising money to cover the costs of Robert’s repatriation back to the United States, and assist in the costs of the funeral and memorial services for Robert’s family.
Transparency of Funds and Friendship
All money raised from this campaign will go directly to Robert’s mother, sisters, and brother (Hui-Sun, Suzi, Angela, Cyndi, Cherie, John, & Chuck Knisely). It will cover any necessary costs associated with his passing and help take the weight of the world from off their shoulders in this sad time. Please know that every contribution is helpful. Even if you are not able to contribute to this financially, we do ask that you do light a candle in remembrance of Robert. Thank you for helping us bring Robert home, and take care of him one last time.
I'm Richard, a work buddy and a close friend of Robert’s. I have been friends with Robert for a year since my arrival in Afghanistan. He took me under his wing, and became one of the best friends I have ever had the honor of knowing. Everyone was Robert’s best friend and he loved everyone. He will be in our hearts and he will be a friend forever.
Rest easy, and I know you’re with your dad, looking down on us with your infectious smile, goofy laugh, and scraggly beard.
