You don’t realize how truly awful cancer is until it hits close to home.
Our Mother was loved beyond measure by so many; James, her husband of 53 years; Lori, Jamie, and Dana, her three children; Frank and Jim, her sons-in-law; Rachel and Zachary, her grandchildren; Amberleigh, her puppy and loyal companion who doesn’t understand where she has gone; Jimmy and Karen, her siblings, and the countless others whose lives she has touched.
Mom had surgery for colon cancer the first time almost 3 years ago. The cancer returned, with a vengeance, in December 2017. After more surgery, months of chemotherapy, numerous hospital stays, then several months of in-home care she passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Family and friends are deeply grieving while trying to comprehend the loss. Our parents decided together, prior to her passing, not to have a funeral service. It was our mother’s wish.
We have set up this account in hopes of helping our father. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in our mother’s name may be made here to help defray the cost of the medical bills which have accumulated during mom’s lengthy illness and also funeral home costs. No donation is too small.
We thank everyone for the kind words, love, and support shown to our family over the past several days. The Facebook comments, private messages, text messages, voice messages, and phone calls have been much appreciated. We will never get tired of hearing people say, “You have the sweetest mom!” Special memories and stories being shared about our mom, by family and friends, are simply priceless to us. You have given us reasons to smile through our tears the past few days while reading Facebook shares and messages. For that, we are grateful.
