Memorial Fund for Christopher Potanas

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved and admired friend and colleague, Dr. Christopher Potanas, who tragically died from sepsis after a series of post-surgical complications. Chris spent his 40th birthday in the hospital valiantly fighting to get back to health but ultimately, the medicine that he loved so much, was unable to save him.

Chris spent the last 15 years pursuing the rigorous journey to become a veterinary surgeon. He not only made it, he excelled- becoming a respected surgeon who helped countless pets and their owners. His welcoming and personable nature combined with great surgical skill and careful attention to the entire pet made him truly unique and one of the best. He also enjoyed teaching colleagues and consulting on new products to help advance the entire veterinary medicine field. Above all, however, Chris was a true family man and his family was everything.

Chris leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 14 years, Robyn, and his lights of his life and proudest achievements - his sons, Connor (5) and Brennan (2). While Robyn and Chris had started college funds for their boys, nobody could foresee this tragedy cutting Chris’ successful career and bright life short. All of your kind donations will be used for the boys’ future education expenses.
