Dan C. Harper was a great father, son, friend, boyfriend, and Soldier who lost a tough battle on Friday, 19 May 2017.  He was born August 27, 1987 in Temple, Texas to the late Davis Harper and Melissa Southerland Harper.  Cass graduated from Temple High School in 2005 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2010.  After that, Cass joined the United States Air Force where he completed studies at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California where he became fluent in the Arabic language specializing in the Iraqi dialect. He was later stationed near Grand Forks, North Dakota where he served as a Staff Sergeant.  He separated from the Airforce in October of 2016 and returned to Temple, Texas until January of 2017 when he moved to Fort Worth.  He accepted a job with Vectrus in Fort Worth as a Technology Server Administrator, where he lived with his daughter, Ellie, his girlfriend Bonnie, and his cat Thor.

The joy of Cass’s life was spending time with his daughter.  He also loved to cook and was a lifelong reader and learner.  He was a lover of animals from an early age.  His best friend was his big brother, Josh, and the best times were times spent together.

He is preceded in death by his father, R. Davis Harper, and grandparents, Bob Southerland, and Dan and Suzanna Harper.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth “Ellie” Lynn Harper of Fort Worth and her mother, Sybil Harper of Dallas, and his girlfriend, Bonnie Brewer and their unborn child of Elkhart, Texas.  He is also survived by his Mother, Melissa Harper of Temple, Brother, Joshua (Heather) Harper of Temple, and Grandmother, Margaret Southerland of Temple, and aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved.

Services will be Wednesday, May 24th, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Temple at 2 p.m. with Rev. Brent Eaton officiating.  Burial to follow at Moffat Cemetery.

Please keep his family in your prayers, and any donations will be greatly appreciated. It has been requested that the funds go into a trust for his children. Thank you all for your support. Rest in peace my good friend.
