Memorial Fund for Elias Lopez

These 2 small boys lost their father on Saturday in a tragic accident. He was the sole provider for his family, and they really could use the community support. Elias was a loving, husband to Ashley and the very best father to Elias Jr and Alvin. He worked as a maintenance worker at Peppertree Bay in Sarasota for over 25 years. He was a very dear friend of mine, whom I treated as my son. He had a landscaping business that he had been working extremely hard to make successful. The job scheduled for that Saturday was to clean up some trees and bushes in a homeowner's yard.
This is the type of work that he was very familiar with. On this day the tree that he was trimming was next to a powerline that was in the back yard of the homeowner. Elias would climb the ladder into the tree and harness himself to it to begin trimming. The tree that Elias was trimming touched the powerline and electrocuted him. Several attempts were made to save him from neighbors nearby, he was unresponsive to all attempts.
   At this time, we are asking everyone to please lift Ashley, Elias Jr., and Alvin up with your prayers and love, as they try to figure out the next steps, not only for today and the next few days but for the weeks and months ahead.  We are figuring out the best ways we can support Ashley and the boys moving forward with their needs. The family's financial hardship with living expenses.
   We all loved Elias and his unassuming ways, his kind heart and love for the world and everyone around him. He was Ashley's life partner and best friend, he was a Loving father to Elias Jr. and Alvin. He was also a well-loved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and co-worker, who has deeply touched so many lives in his short time on earth.

   Gone too soon, we all feel so blessed to have had a chance to know and love him. He will be forever missed and never forgotten by all who were lucky enough to know him. We love you Elias and we will ALWAYS hold you in our hearts.
