I am writing to you today to let you know about the tragic loss of Ian Martin. Ian passed away suddenly in a car accident on July, 28th, 2020 while he was on-shore near Petersburg, Alaska.
Ian Martin (29), a U.S. Navy Veteran, spent the last 4 summer seasons working as an Alaska commercial fisherman with his step-father, Dean Haltiner. Ian had spent the previous year working as an Emergency Medical Technician in the Austin, TX area. He obtained his Paramedic certification while living in Texas and positively impacted coworkers, hospital staff, and patients. Ian was a well respected and profoundly loved member of the EMS community.
After completing this fishing season, Ian had planned a hunting trip out of Fairbanks with his brother Brett Evens and then head to Utah to interview with the 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne).
