Memorial Fund for Julius Michel
Donation protected

Dear NEST+m Community,
Julius Michel, a 2021 NEST+m graduate, was in a tragic accident. He was on life support for 5 days and unfortunately transitioned on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
Julius received many recognitions for his academic achievements at NEST+m, but he was more than a member of this community. He was also a member of the NYPD Explorers program since middle school and throughout high school. Julius was a long-standing member of the Bedford Stuyvesant competitive swimming team where he participated in state competitions and enjoyed swimming at the YMCA. In addition, he loved the game of basketball and would frequent Greene Playground near his elementary school at P.S. 11 in Brooklyn. If you ask anyone who knew Julius, they will tell you that he was always eager to please the ones that he loved.
Those who knew him here at NEST+m are deeply saddened at the loss of such an intelligent, kind, and caring young soul. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones who are in the midst of this traumatic experience. In an attempt to ease some of the financial burden brought upon Julius’ family, those close to Julius have created a fundraiser and are asking the NEST+m community to consider donating funds to help cover any expenses. In addition, we are going to plant a tree and sponsor a bench at one of his favorite parks in his neighborhood where he enjoyed playing basketball -- this way his family can always have a beautiful marker of his life and make a lasting place to honor his legacy. If you are able to donate, please use the link to do so. Any amount is appreciated.
We ask that you keep Julius’ family in your thoughts and prayers. Arrangements will be made with the Guidance Office for any student who needs emotional support or just someone to talk with.
Thank you.
Thank you.
