Memorial Fund for Layken Willis

Hi, I’m Sarah! I’m starting this fundraiser to raise money for a memorial service for my best friend, Layken Colby Willis.

These funds will be given to Layken’s family to cover the costs of her memorial service.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Layken Colby Willis, age 25, on March 18, 2025. Born on April 23, 1999, Layken was a passionate and vibrant young woman whose life was a celebration of love for nature, adventure, and the people around her. She felt like sunshine.

A recent graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in Environmental Science, Layken dedicated her life to protecting the environment. Her love for nature led her to travel the world, including an unforgettable journey to Africa, where she studied wildlife and captured breathtaking photographs that showcased the planet's beauty. Layken’s photographs were not just images; they were a reflection of her deep commitment to preserving the world we live in.

Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Layken thrived in the great outdoors. Whether she was playing sports, hiking through nature, or simply soaking in the beauty around her, she found unparalleled joy in the natural world. Her adventurous spirit and infectious enthusiasm touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Layken is deeply missed by her family, including her mother, Teffanie Kim James; her brother, Cody Brown, and his wife, Morgan, along with their children Landon and Raelynn; her aunts, Robin (James) Stevens and Pat (Tootie) Arnold; her cousin, Brandi (Stevens) Kutz and her husband, Justin Kutz; her significant other, Timothy Cazares; and many other loving family members and friends.

To honor Layken’s memory and her legacy of love for the earth and her family, we are creating this GoFundMe to support her family during this difficult time. The funds raised will help cover memorial expenses and allow her loved ones to celebrate her life in a way that reflects her passion for adventure and nature.
