Memorial Fund for The Duguid Family
Donation protected
Please help the Jeunes Virtuoses de New York support a family in our community who suddenly lost their father.
Ron Duguid, the father of three long time exceptional scholarship viola students of the Jeunes Virtuoses de New York’s music community, died unexpectedly Friday morning, April 16, 2021. While unclear if there is any correlation, he received the second round of COVID-19 vaccine two weeks prior to his death, and within a day developed Bell's Palsy. With five daughters (ages 7 - 20), he was the only wage earner in the family and without life insurance.
JVNY is seeking to provide support for the Duguid family so the five daughters can continue their musical pursuits and maintain family stability. They will be facing the costs of a formal autopsy to understand why Ron died so abruptly (for the health of the children and to give the family the closure they deserve), the burial and rent to stay in their present home until they can further adjust and develop a means of income. Originally from the Caribbean, Ron moved to the US as a child and was a vibrant parent in JVNY’s music community for over ten years, with the oldest child studying with Juilliard’s Music Achievement Program (MAP) and Juilliard’s Pre-College, before attending Harvard University on scholarship.
We are grateful for all support provided to help this wonderful family that has contributed so much to the music and community of JVNY and all of the values and hope it stands for. Your contributions will help Ron’s family continue their path of excellence and dedication.
JVNY, Inc is a non-profit music organization. Given its mission, JVNY cannot provide tax-exempt benefits and pay expenses for this fund raising directly, though we hope our message will inspire your support for the Duguid family and our mission.
