Memorial Fund for the Hussein Family

Dr. Ramadan B. Hussein passed away after an all too short battle with cancer on March 9th. He leaves behind his wife Angela, sons Yousef (Joey), Benjamin and daughter Martha.
To those who knew Ramadan, he was a bright light of positivity. He had an infectious smile and laugh. He loved his family intensely and always worked hard in a field that was his passion.
He was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, and despite growing up very poor, he became educated, ultimately earning his Ph.D. in Egyptology at Brown University. At Brown, he met his fellow Ph.D. in Archeology and loving wife Angela, and they started their journey together. Shortly after they married, they had their first son, Yousef (Joey). Ramadan excelled at fatherhood and would often carry Joey on his shoulders, even past an age when it was an easy task. The family moved to Egypt, where Ramadan worked for the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and it was there that twins Martha and Benjamin were born. Shortly after that, the civil war broke out in Egypt and the family was forced to flee, moving to Pittsburgh, PA. After exhaustively searching, Ramadan received a fellowship in Egyptology and, ultimately, a full-time position at the University of Tubingen in Germany, where the family currently resides.
Despite many hurdles in his career, Dr. Ramadan made an incredible discovery in 2018 while working in Saqqara, Egypt, a mummy workshop, which included a gilded silver mask and many mummies. As a result, Ramadan and his team were featured on the National Geographic mini-series Kingdom of Mummies, highlighting the discoveries at the site.
Ramadan will be remembered not only for his academic achievements but also for his devotion to his family, warm, welcoming nature, and loving heart.

As a now single mother, Angela hopes to ease her burden by getting her license and a car. Unfortunately, both of these things can be pretty expensive in Germany. Any little bit you can contribute would go a long way to helping the Hussein family.
