Memorial fund for Tim Senior
Donation protected
Welcome to our GoFundMe page in memory of Tim Senior, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Tim impacted a great many people in his life and earned the respect and love of those that surrounded him. He was an amazing role model for our family, always putting us and others before himself and working endlessly in the pursuit of his next big dream. He was enormously passionate about the things he held most dear and was always incredibly proud of our achievements.
Those that knew Tim will know that one of his most cherished pastimes was rowing. He dedicated himself entirely on a number of occasions and in a number of capacities to the sport, achieving many of his personal and organisational goals along the way. One such goal was to compete at Henley Royal Regatta in the same year as one of his sons, which he managed in 2017 at the age of 46. To have shared in this achievement with him means the world to me and is one of my most precious memories with my father. As with any sport, rowing came with many highs and lows, but Alex and I could not have asked for a more inspirational or supportive figure to have by our sides.
But of course, his life extended well beyond the confines of rowing. What really defined him in my eyes was his appetite for life, incredible determination, and dogged competitive spirit. Whether it be dad dancing at bars or simple board games with the family, he threw his heart and soul into absolutely everything he did.
He was an inspiration to us all and will be sorely missed. He leaves a huge hole in our family, one that will never be filled, but by supporting the things he cared about most we hope to create a lifelong connection with him. Although we have not fully determined how the funds raised here will be used, we would like to dedicate them to the following causes:
As the Chairman of the Boat Race Company, the Boat Race Fund and increasing the accessibility of rowing more broadly was a cause very close to Tim’s heart. He worked tirelessly to help students regardless of background to achieve their full potential in the sport that had given so much to him. Through the fund, we hope to continue Tim’s work and commitment to such a worthy cause. For those that are not familiar with the BRF, it is a charity committed to lessening financial hurdles and widening access to a new generation of rowers. It will alleviate obstacles, such as access to rowing kit and equipment, increase awareness across communities and give logistical support including travelling to and from the rowing club to ensure students feel comfortable and safe. Help us by donating here in memory of Tim and the sport he loved so much. (We are currently discussing the creation of a restricted fund within the BRF named after Tim where any money raised would be used to support talented rowers at Oxbridge)
We would also like to raise money to buy a boat in Tim’s honour at Upper Thames RC, where he was a member for over 10 years and where, as a family, we have nothing but happy memories with him. The club meant a great deal to Tim, who would travel for over an hour to come for training each weekend and rarely missed a session despite his hectic schedule. UTRC was his haven and provided respite from his busy life outside of the club. To celebrate the club’s importance in his life and recognise the help given to the Senior family by its members following Tim’s passing, we would like to give back and show our support.
If you would prefer that your donation went to a specific cause from the above, please let us know and we will distribute it accordingly.
