Memorial Service for John Francis Flynn

Donation protected
We are raising funds for the memorial service of John Francis Flynn. To many he was a hero, a mentor, a radical, a thorn in the side, a poet, a vigilante videographer and a dedicated eco-warrior.  Flynny always held East Gippsland lovingly in his heart. He dedicated his livelihood to campaigning tenaciously for the protection of the trees. After the long battle for Goolengook's old-growth forest was victorious, JF Flynn was quick to take the forests of Toolangi under his protective wing. He was an inspiration to many fledgling activists and environmentalists, and he encouraged all walks of life to take part in our democratic rights to participate and stand up for mother nature. He was a true inspiration and his memory will always be deeply and lovingly seeded into our hearts.

The memorial service for John Francis Flynn will be held on the 4th April 2020 at either CERES environment park or Edinburgh Gardens (more details to be confirmed). Please donate with love & intentions for the remembrance of this great man. Proceeds from donations will go towards cremation, funeral service, light catering and other costs. If there are any left over funds they will be donated to GECO Kitchen so that his memory will live on in the fight for justice of our forests. Let us come to realise what Flynny stood for so that we can carry his legacy forward. May his warrior spirit live on in all our hearts.

♥ Quotes from the 'little black book' for us all to remember him by ♥

--

‘Always think in terms of emancipation, not power. Emancipation is the organism of radical transformation.’

--

‘Beware those that think they can do it by themselves. Revolution is the transformation of society through the conscious actions of humans. Our revolution is greater than ourselves.’

--

‘God doesn’t save people, people save God.’

--

‘Clearfelling is the act of war on mother nature. When a government declares war on mother nature, the mother of us all, her children have no option but to defend her against her rapers. Those children that do are her warriors.’

--

‘The society that abolishes every adventure makes its own abolition the only adventure. Don’t be a cog in the machine, be a spanner in the works.’

--

‘Experience is wisdom, everything else is just information.’

--

‘My karma will overcome your dogma.’

--

‘You will never know who you are until you have challenged something much bigger than you and come out of it.’

--

‘My incompetence is balanced by my tenacity.’

--

‘‘I’diot’ noun: Greek for someone who just looks after their own private life, one who does not participate in democracy (or in their community).’

--

‘There is a difference between a worker and a wage slave. A worker is a political entity.’

--

‘We can give you nothing but participation in your own idealism. The degree to which you resist is the degree you are free. The union movement has failed to politicise its members.’

--

‘Opinion is only thought. Opinion in action is action itself. Whaling is socially unacceptable, slave trading is socially unacceptable, native forest logging is now socially unacceptable. The Joan of Arc court cases, the Inquisition court cases, the Bolshevik court cases.. the transcripts would be identical.’

--

‘When a logger says he loves working in the bush its like an abbatoir worker who loves working with animals.’

--

‘Just because Australia has suffered its worst natural fire disaster here in Victoria, does not mean that there is reason to stop drying out more of our native forest through native forest logging. Can you have your cake and eat it too?’

--

‘I am here to compost the garbage that is put in front of me as union leadership.’

--

‘If you are the voice of reason I have but no choice but be the strident voice of the future.’

--

‘The more you buy the less it costs to the point to the point that it cost nothing so conceivably someone could buy the whole forest for free.’

--

‘You may take a different path if you were barefoot..’

To our dearly departed John Francis Flynn, we will always miss you.
