Memorial Support for Mrs. Martinez Funeral
Donation protected
On November 5th, 2023, Mrs. Margarita Martinez passed away after an almost 15 year long battle with cancer. Margarita is survived by her husband Eduardo, her sons Cesar and Adrian, and her 8 siblings, Manuel, Raul, Berta, Apolonia, Irma, Juanita, Virginia, and Reina. She was 63 years old.
A long-time resident of Yolo County, Margarita worked as a farm worker for many years alongside her husband while raising two sons. Born in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico in 1960, Margarita first arrived in the United States in 1986 and began working in Yolo County agriculture that same year. From 2007 to 2019, Margarita and her family were seasonal residents of the Madison Migrant Camp off Highway 16 from 2007 until 2019. In 2019, the Martinez family became year-long residents of Yolo County, achieving a longtime ambition to put down permanent roots in Yolo County after decades of seasonal migration and agricultural work. Margarita and her husband Eduardo were married for over 20 years years.
First diagnosed with cancer in 2009, Margarita put up a long and brave fight. As her condition, Margarita ceased working in the field and was largely supported by the work of her husband and two sons, all of whom work in Yolo County agriculture. A MediCal and CalFresh recipient, Margarita also frequently battled Yolo County government to obtain the services and support to which she was entitled. Despite the immense economic pressure on both of Margarita's sons to drop out to work full time and help support the family, both graduated from Esparto High School as Margarita encouraged them to do.
Tragically, Margarita's son Adrian is also suffering from cancer since 2022 and is currently undergoing treatment at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Given Adrian's illness and Margarita's own longtime inability to work, the family faces significant financial difficulties.
Your support will help with the funeral expenses of Margarita Martinez, who will be buried here in Yolo County, as well as the travel costs associated with Margarita's siblings in Mexico traveling to California to attend the funeral. Any remaining funds will help economically support the Martinez family while Adrian Martinez continues his own cancer treatment.
