Memorial to honor Prayer Yvonne Waddell

Hi my name is Justin and I want to tell you a story of an incredible young lady.

My wife Amber met Prayer while she was selling lemonade on the side of the road this summer. It was over 100 degrees that day and my wife was concerned. She turned around and stopped to talk with her for a few moments, because she didn't have any cash to give her. Prayer explained her situation and that she was trying to get money for food. She didn't have a safe place to stay, and was spending most of her nights sleeping in abandoned houses with her boyfriend. She confided in my wife that she felt alone and really just wanted someone to talk to. Amber took her to dinner, visited with her, and prayed for her as she went on her way.

A few evenings later I answered a knock at the front door, it was Prayer.  She asked if she could come in and shower. Of course we obliged. After her shower, she visited with us and ate. We knew we could not send her back outside, and invited her to stay with us for a few days. That few days turned into a few months, and Prayer became a part of our family. She was an amazing addition to our home. We loved her as our own, and made her a part of our family. She traveled with us, went to church with us, and we got her back into school. She was set to graduate this coming May. Since we are a family we had certain rules. After a while Prayer decided she just couldn't live with us any longer and we parted ways. Even though we wanted her to stay, we let her leave on the best of terms. Over the last few months, we have stayed in contact with her.

Today, January 10th, we learned the tragic news that Prayer had been shot and to our horror passed away this morning. To make matters worse, she was killed by her biological father.

We are making the ask to our friends, family, and community to help us honor Prayer. These proceeds would strictly go to memorial and funeral costs. Anything received above those costs will be donated to local Joplin organizations that help with displaced children.

We are heartbroken for this family and we want Prayer to be honored as the sweet girl we knew her to be. Please consider helping with a financial gift, and if you cannot give please pray. Thank you in advance for your incredible generosity.
