Sofia's Wish is raising money to put together memory boxes to send to hospitals in order to help bereaved parents who lost their babies during pregnancy or just after their birth to create memories with their babies. It is really important to allow bereaved parents to spend time with their babies and create memories for life, as this helps with the grieving process.

With the donations that we have received to date we were able to donate 30 memory boxes to hospitals in Portugal, where there is very little support for parents to create memories with their babies. The aim of Sofia's Wish is to continue to send as many boxes as we can to where they are needed. Each box costs about £40 (€48) to put together and includes:

two little teddy bears,
two slightly larger stuffed animals (the idea is for parents to keep two and for the others to stay with the baby through to the funeral),
a box in which to keep a lock of baby's hair,
letter paper and an envelope for parents to write to their baby,
a certificate of life,
a box to put everything inside,
two crochet hearts,
a clay mould kit - used to create prints of the baby’s hands and feet - will not be included in the memory box but donated separately. The reason for this is that not all babies will be able to do such prints,
a special impression paper to make prints of the baby's hands and feet (which can later be used to create necklaces, bracelets and key chains) can be added to the memory box, if the hospital does not supply this already,
clothes and blankets for the baby can be included in the box or donated separately.

A Sofia’s Wish está a angariar fundos para montar caixas de memórias para enviar para os hospitais para ajudar pais que perderam os seus bebés durante a gravidez ou após o nascimento a criarem memórias com eles. É muito importante dar a oportunidade aos pais passarem tempo com os seus bebés e criarem memórias para a vida porque ajuda no processo do luto.

Com as doações que recebemos até agora conseguimos doar 30 caixas de memórias para hospitais em Portugal, onde existe muito poucas oportunidades para os pais criarem memórias com os seus bebés. O objectivo da Sofia’s Wish é continuar a enviar caixas onde são necessárias. Cada caixa custa aproximadamente £40 (€48) e contêm:

dois ursinhos de peluche pequeninos,
dois peluches um pouco maiores (a ideia é que os pais fiquem com dois ursinhos e o seu bebé outros dois que pode acompanhar o bebé até ao funeral),
uma caixinha para pôr o cabelo do bebé,
um envelope e papel para que os pais escrevam ao seu bebé,
certificado de vida,
a caixa para pôr tudo dentro,
Uma moldura com o clay para fazer a impressão dos pés e das mãos do bebé é doada à parte porque nem todos os bebés conseguem fazer esta impressão,
Papel para fazer as impressões digitais das mãos e pés do bebé (em que mais tarde a impressão pode ser usada para pôr em fios, pulseiras e porta-chaves) também pode ser incluída na caixa de memórias caso o hospital não as disponha,
Roupas e mantas para o bebé podem ser incluídas na caixa ou doadas separadamente.
