‘Memory Marathon’ for Sharon Hampson
St Margaret's Hospice has been at the heart of Somerset's community for over 40 years, delivering high quality, responsive and compassionate care to patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness.
In July 2022 my mum, Sharon Hampson, was suddenly diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. It came as a huge shock to all and was so far gone already that sadly chemo wasn’t an option, and we were given 4-6 months. Devastatingly, just 8 weeks later, mum passed away. Mum was an incredibly strong and brave woman in everything she did, and she made everyone who knew her incredibly proud right till the very end. Her presence will always be greatly missed.
St Margaret’s Hospice is a charity close to my family’s heart. They made an incredibly difficult time that little bit easier, going above and beyond to support my family as best as possible, with mum’s end of life care and looking out for us too.
One of mum’s wishes was for donations to be sent to St Margaret’s Hospice. While nothing can bring my mum back or fill the hole in our family, I would like to recognise the hard work of St Margaret’s and help other families receive the same support in similar times.
On 2nd December 2022, I will be walking the equivalent of a marathon (26.1 miles/
55,000) to raise money for St Margaret’s Hospice in memory of mum. All profits will go directly to the charity. Any donations and/ or shares would be gratefully received!
