Memphis McNabb, Age 5, baby of Jessie Mcnabb (nee Kimmel) and Rob Mcnabb of Rabbit Lake Saskatchewan.
Memphis is in need of a brain surgery to remove a birthmark that is hindering his development and causing many alarming and ferocious seizures.
IN THE WORDS OF THE DOCTOR As he is developing channels of communication through his brain, that particular area cannot get through and is trying hard. Fortunately we can try and medicate. The doctor says it is likely his brain will learn to go around that piece and his development will not be hindered. However after many tests and many failed medications with many trips in ambulance to emergency since November 23rd, there is now surgery. This cannot happen if he cannot be seizure free for at least a month for proper testing. We are trying to understand what is happening.
IN THE WORDS OF JESSIE We are trying to maintain some sort of normal life for our other four children. Memphis typically has seizure clusters that without intervention perpetuate. This is a terrifying and uncertain time for our family. We have had several lengthy stays in Royal University Hospital and have no idea what the future holds for us or Memphis.
We hope to be educated enough through this to deal with the way god made our Memphis. In the meantime we are grateful to the pediatric teams working to get our Memphis well.
To help accommodate the accumulating cost of driving to and from Saskatoon (5 Hours from Rabbit Lake), the medication, the lodging and providing care for the rest of the kids, I am asking the Mcnabb’s friends, family and community for your help.
A bit about the Mcnabb's. A gorgeous family with 5 children. Jessie drives school bus and Rob drives a pig run to Lloydminster. They have started building a cattle ranch and have had many hurdles. The chores are endless and if they have to get to the hospital with Memphis, they need to be able to have someone tend to the animals.
The other kids attend school and activities locally and between the two folks, they are trying to juggle time. Little Memphis needs watch 24-7 because his seizures are so irregular. Hopefully, this surgery will work and the path his brainwaves need to go can be fixed.
