Support Mended Hearts Nonprofit Horse-Assisted Therapeutic Center

Situated on 12.5 beautiful acres, nonprofit Mended Hearts therapeutic center and stables is more than just a counseling center. Many describe it as a “sanctuary” for those seeking solace and support, with reduced-fee and pro bono services often provided. This unwavering commitment to their clients’ well-being has made Mended Hearts a cherished member of greater Peoria, Ill., community for more than 20 years.

Mended Hearts provides mental health services to children, teens, adults, families, couples and veterans. The center’s highly skilled counselors customize their approach for each client’s needs, often with the support of specially trained therapy horses and dogs, or other friendly pets and animals—cats, goats, chickens and more.

To keep pace with community and client needs, Mended Hearts must expand its facility and services.

Today, the center’s greatest needs include an onsite prescriber for medication management, an additional counselor, and support groups for veterans, parents and others. To house these important services, Mended Hearts must expand its facility to add two offices, a meeting space and a bathroom that are Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant.

Mended Hearts has received a grant to help build the shell of the much-needed addition. To finish the addition interior and furnish it for use for expanded services will require an additional $75,000.
