Men's Mental Health in memory of Steven Hawkins

Steven Hawkins died on the 8th July 2023 following a prolonged period of mental ill-health and alcoholism. Unfortunately life had become too much and he chose to take his life. This has had a long lasting impact on the family, and in particular the three children he left behind. He was only 42 years old when he sadly passed away.

ANDYSMANCLUB is a male suicide prevention charity established in 2016 after the tragic loss of Andrew Roberts to suicide aged 23. They facilitate non professional peer to peer support groups across the UK and Scotland for any man to attend who are over the age of 18, providing a confidential non judgemental space for men to come together to chat about anything that they would like to get off of their chest. There is no waiting list, no referral or signing in process, just a friendly space for men to get together to help one another.

If you have anything spare, it would be gratefully received as we try and improve provisions available to men who are struggling with their mental health.

As an attempt to raise money as Steven's ex-partner and mother to his children, and my supportive colleague are to run the Manchester half marathon on Sunday 13th October 2024, this is done in his memory, and the memory of all those who have lost their lives to suicide / mental ill-health, and for all the men who continue to need support to prevent the large number of deaths we see to suicide.
