MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS ARTS FUNDRAISER

Hi! I'm Alexis Park, the founder of Recover Me! We are an international mental health awareness film festival fundraiser, and going on our fourth annual event!
Since 2019, we have been producing and elevating original work centered around mental health! We put the narratives back into the hands of people who experience mental illness to share their honest and non sensationalized or over dramatized stories. This is in the hopes of elevating knowledge and the conversation around mental illness.
We showcase every phase of living with mental health. From acknowledging the hard days and reality of mental illness, to celebrating the victories and every step in between. We are here to do our part in changing the way people view mental illness.
Recover Me is three-part event! The evening begins with a visual arts and education gallery, followed by eight original self-produced films and live performances, and concludes with a guided Q&A panel of mental health professionals! This is not only a life-changing event, but a life-saving event.
Each year writing submissions come from around the world, including Africa, New Zealand, Indonesia, England, Canada, and all over the United States!
Our films have gone beyond our event to win multiple film festival awards, and even be used as educational tools at the university level!
Over the years we have raised money for : NAMI San Diego -$2,103 (2019), NAMI San Diego/NAMI New York- $2,425 (2020), 2021-Trevor Project and AFSP ($3,200)
The money is used to: pay the hearts of Recover Me (our artists, writers, directors, editors, creators, and film crew), secure our event venue, produce the films and live performances, craft our Gala event, and reach as many people as possible!
The money is used to: pay our artists, writers, directors and production team for all the hard work and love they put into this project, secure our event venue, produce the films, pay for locations and props, and reach as many people as possible!
STATEMENTS:
"Recover Me is an amazing opportunity to work with other creatives in a supportive space, which gives us the opportunity to explore complex ideas about life and psychology in a unique and artistic way. It's such a pleasure to take our submissions from page to screen and hear the conversations they start at the screenings!" - Aaron Ford, 2021 Director
As someone who lives with mental illness I know how easy it is to be misunderstood and misrepresented by those around me. The Recover Me team who share their stories do a wonderful job of showing how great and strong we really are. - Jordan Cassidy (2019, 2020, 2021 audience member)
When I found out RecoverMe had selected Dinosaur, I was overjoyed. Not only was the film used to help raise money for mental health awareness, but it went on to be screened at numerous film festivals, sharing this story with audiences around the world. Recover Me is an amazing organization of talented artists using their abilities to make the world better and I’m so grateful my script could be a part of it. Steven Hayet (2021 Writer, Dinosaur)
