Mental Health Month Birthday Fundraiser

Donation protected
Peer Support Space, Inc.  (PSS) is a grassroots organization that is fiscally sponsored by the Peer Support Coalition of Central Florida. We can't yet create Facebook birthday fundraisers until gaining our own 501(c)3 status (in process) so we are inviting y’all here to help us in celebrating BOTH our Co-Founder’s (Yasmin & Dani) May Birthdays AND Mental Health Awareness Month by making a donation to PSS in the month of May.

We are changing the culture of mental health, and filling many important community gaps, by providing approachable, and affordable (free) peer services to Central Florida. Since we started in early 2019, Peer Support Space has provided over 5,000 individuals no-cost, peer-led support with a shoe-string budget.

We have lovingly poured all our energy and emotional labor into seeing Peer Support Space flourish, sustained by the support of so many genuine, compassionate folks. As a grassroots community initiative we rely on communal support to keep going and keep growing — it takes a community, to heal a community ♥️

With it being Mental Health Awareness month we want to name that there is a lack of approachable care for those in our Central Florida community. It is our priority to provide safe, affirming spaces for those with obstacles to mental wellness to find chosen family, community, and to heal. We bring to the center of our work communities that are far too often marginalized or pushed to the fringes by traditional services.

Intentionally, we prioritize providing resources for communities that — due to systemic issues, cultural incompetence, and a myriad of other issues — have less access to mental health care. Our communities of focus include immigrant, Autistic Adults, GenderQueer individuals, those with disabilities, Queer Women, Transgender identifying individuals, Black communities, Asian communities, those living positively with HIV, elderly populations, and individuals striving to navigate challenges to their mental health. All of our services are led by and for the community represented to ensure that preferences, wants, and needs of our wonderfully diverse and nuanced communities are at the forefront.

We humbly ask, to help us celebrate our birthdays and Mental Health Awareness Month, that all of our friends, family, community extend any support they can by making a financial contribution to our efforts and sharing this opportunity.
