Mentoring the ABYSO
Donation protected
About the trip:
The funds will be used towards raising money to tutor the Antigua and Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestra (as mentors). To raise money for these costs, we are selling Antigua-themed prints of a painting kindly donated by the artist Helen Abbott. For any donation over £15 we would be delighted to send you a copy of the Antigua-themed print or notebook (found on the link below), both of which are on very high-quality paper and will be signed- however, all donations are highly appreciated.
If you wish to find out more about the prints and notebooks, please see the following website:

About me:
Over the years I have been fortunate to play with numerous orchestras and venues across the UK such as the National Youth Chamber Orchestra of Great Britain culminating in performing in venues such as the Royal College of Music, the Royal Albert Hall and Westminster Abbey. Now, studying for a Masters in Sustainability and Business (at the University of Leeds), I aim to work in the music industry from a sustainability perspective. When the creative industries can be a ‘force-for-good’ in connecting audiences, I aim to follow my current research which looks at the creative industry’s connecting powers to translate climate change awareness (relatability with audiences) to sustainable behavioural changes. Being able to mentor the ABYSO would be so wonderful, particularly in being able to ‘feedback’ to younger musicians the mentorship I, myself, was so fortunate to have. Additionally, from an academic and career perspective, being able to volunteer in Antigua would be extremely pivotal, helping me to gain an international perspective of how music is embedded in different cultures and access to international networking and world-class musicians.
Endorsement
“Please would you be kind enough to advise these brilliant, deserving young musicians from the University of Leeds who has been specially invited by H.E. Karen-Mae Hill, High Commissioner of Antigua and Barbuda, to visit for 11 days and help train young string players in the country’s Youth Symphony Orchestra? … Rebecca is a highly deserving student who will be a real asset to the programme in so many ways. We invited Rebecca to join us, because we needed a string tutor for the project and because we could think of no-one better”
