We are Harry C, Oli, Harry A, Jake, Isabel, Hamish, Charlie, Lachie and Michael, and we are fundraising to help us compete internationally at Henley Royal Rowing Regatta in the UK.
Henley is a prestigious and unique opportunity for us to gain important experience and represent Mercantile as an Australian club against some of the best in the world. We are looking to send two crews to compete in the coxed four Britannia Challenge Cup event, and the coxless four Wyfold Challenge Cup event. We are hoping this fundraiser will assist with the costs of going (boat hire, accomodation, entry fees) to ensure we can get over there and race.

COXED FOUR
- Harry C’s rowing experience falls nothing short of well-versed. His incredible ability to balance training hard and engineering rocket propulsion systems is a testament to his disciplined nature. Dominating light-weight and heavy-weight events, Harry’s ability to compete is truly admirable.
- Oli, a Victorian youth representative, has competed against Australia’s best underage rowers. He balances his training with being a Product Manager at SFI. His relentlessness to win makes him an excellent competitor in all boat classes and contributes to his crew with energy and tenacity.
- Harry Amad defines hard working. Rowing in the Boat Race and completing a masters degree at Oxford, and now taking on a PHD of machine learning at Cambridge, he cultivates a standard of effort that is unparalleled. Harry’s ability to compete in all boat classes makes him a deadly competitor and an invaluable addition to the boat.
- Jake’s training ethic is admirable. A national champion at schoolboy level and a Victorian Youth representative, his record in competing is at an elite level. An avid landscaper by day, Jake’s ability to execute his training to a tee displays his commitment to his team and ferocity.
- Isabel’s level-headedness and fierceness propels her ability to cox the boat. Steering the boat for olympians and younger athletes, she brings a wide range of experience into the boat. Juggling a healthy university schedule and training is a result of her love of the sport and dedication to winning with her crew.
COXLESS FOUR
- Hamish is a 21 year-old design student at the University of Melbourne. He has attained multiple medals at both state and national championships. He currently balances his training and study with an architectural internship and casual work at a cinema. He is excited to take his rowing career internationally and compete with the best clubs in the world.
- Charlie, donning the red and white of Mercantile from his time as a school athlete to an U23 Club national representative. He has trained amongst the top Olympians and Youth athletes alike. Currently in his final year of study, Charlie is looking to go across the pond once again to Henley, following the legacy left by his brother, Alex Clarke to compete on the international stage.
- Lachie at 22 is an engineering student, working part time at an engineering company. A long term club rower, with nationals and states medals across the last two seasons. It’s always been a dream of his to go to Henley.
- Michael, an international Mercantilian who is currently at Dartmouth College will be joining the coxless four. He rowed for Mercs during his semester off this year and couldn't get enough, so will be making the trip from the States to don the red and white zootie at Henley.
