Mercantile RC Women's Henley 8 2022
Donation protected
Hi,
We are Anna, Sarge, Sophie, Hannah, Xanthe, Louisa, Hen, Livvy, Louise and Hayley and we are fundraising to help us compete internationally at Henley Royal Rowing Regatta in the UK.
A group of young women who have represented our states and country, whilst either studying at University or maintaining full-time jobs. As part of our athletic development, we are looking to compete in the newly added women's event at Henley Royal Regatta; the Wargraves Women's 8 Challenge Cup. Henley is a prestigious and one-of-a-kind experience, which will provide us with the opportunity to gain important experience and represent Australian clubs against some of the best in the world. Not to mention getting more female crews from Australia competing overseas.
Unfortunately, Henley is an expensive venture. We are hoping this fundraiser will enable us to cover the costs of going (boat hire, accommodation, entry fees, transport), to ensure we can get all our girls over there to race!
Bellow is a little more about the girls involved:
- Anna at 24, is an AUS senior team hopeful who balances her training with being a Loan Administrator to support herself. Having Represented her home state Queensland multiple times she is a multiple National senior medalist, and well on her way to a senior World championship.
- Sarge is a 20-year-old paramedic student who has represented Victoria multiple times, with several National medals and a National Championship. She balances training with study, placements and a part-time job and hopes to represent her country at an underage level in the near future.
- Sophie at 20 has also been in the mix for both senior and underage AUS levels. A sports science student, who works part-time in retail. She is yet another one of our athletes who has represented both Victoria and AUS.
- Hannah is a psychology and criminology student, also working in retail part-time helping to develop products. She is yet another one of our female Victorian representatives, with National medals in a wide variety of boats at just 19 years old. Hannah is also progressing towards the underage AUS teams in the coming years.
- Xanthe is a current National Champion, with medals in a wide range of different boat classes at senior levels. At 24 she has completed a master's degree in public health and worked in the response to the pandemic whilst continuing to train and progress her rowing career.
- Louisa at 20 has also been in Victorian and AUS teams, with several National medals across different sized boats. She balances full-time genetics studies with training and working as a carer.
- Hen is another one of our hardworking paramedic students, who also works in and around hospitals and schools whilst balancing her training load. The 20-year-old has a collection of national medals from numerous years of high-performance rowing.
- Livvy is our resident Lightweight, who is yet another Victorian representative. At 21, she is a geography student who has formed key seats in both lightweight and heavyweight boats with a wide variety of medals across all boat classes on a National level.
- Louise is yet another current National Champion with multiple other National medals across both sculling and sweeping disciplines. The 20-year-old balances working full time in early childhood education and as an NDIS support worker on top of her training.
- Hayley, our Coxswain, at 19 has made several Victorian teams and an AUS team. The Commerce student balances training, coaching, work and studies whilst developing her athletic career, with National medals from almost every class of coxed boats across both genders.
Any and all donations to help our amazing girls get across to Henley on the 28th of June would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
