Mercer Middle School Community Support
Tax deductible
Asa Mercer International Middle School in Southeast Seattle is home to 1,185 students. About 85% are students of color, 16% are English Language Learners, and even more speak languages other than English at home. Over 60% of students are low income. The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) seeks to support the many programs of Mercer in the furtherance of our mission to be: a powerful voice for children; a relevant resource for families, our school and community; and a strong advocate for the well-being and education of every Mercer child.
Each year the PTSA funds a variety of items and events that benefit our students including new sports jerseys, classroom equipment, books and learning tools, field trips, etc. As you can imagine, our budget this year looks a little different with remote learning and the pandemic. To help meet the significant needs that many of our families have during this difficult crisis, Mercer has been providing grocery gift cards to some families on a regular basis since March. The PTSA has already spent a significant amount of funds on helping the school to assist families. And we need help to replenish our funds!
In addition to caring for our school community in this tangible way, our PTSA is also committed to taking steps in addressing racial injustice by offering anti-racism trainings from local professionals as we strive to use the learning to shape and transform how we operate and engage with families and our school community.
Will you join us in supporting Mercer Middle School families during this challenging time? Our target goal for the year is to raise $10,000. Please donate at whatever level is comfortable for your household. Any contribution helps, whether it is $5, $50, $100, $500 or more! Your gift will aide us in the various ways our PTSA comes alongside Mercer staff, students, and families.
Thank you for your generosity!
