Mercy College Marathon Madness

Hello all,

We are the staff of Mercy College Belfast and 35 of us have been training over the past 12 weeks and will be running the Belfast Marathon in teams in the hope to raise money for 3 charities close to our hearts.

These charities are;

Macmillan Nurses - They offer information and guidance to patients and their families throughout their cancer journey, including during treatment and beyond. They help patients and their families cope with the emotional and practical challenges of living with cancer, providing a listening ear and practical advice.

Alzheimer's Society NI - It’s thought that two out of three people living with dementia in the UK have Alzheimer’s disease. It’s a physical illness which, as it progresses, damages a person’s brain.

At Alzheimer’s Society they work towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.

Sands - Work to support anyone affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

They also carry out vital work to improve maternity safety through targeted research, campaigning for change, working with government and reducing inequalities in healthcare to save babies' lives.

Each charity has been selected carefully by the staff of Mercy College. All donations will be equally distributed amongst them.
