Mercy Ships Mission Trip
It all began with some friends long ago.... they introduced us to Mercy Ships . It seemed like an amazing idea. A ship that provided free medical care to those in need. At the time I wasn't even a nurse.
Fast forward to Two years ago and a friend from my church community group was planning her own trip to the Africa Mercy. After that the topic continued to bob to the forefront of my mind year after year until I finally submitted an application... and within 24 hours I was already being told there is a need and I have the opportunity to serve some of God's most vulnerable.
This is something way outside my comfort zone, leaving the confines of my simple structured everyday life, leaving my family, and leaving the comforts of home for a chance to obey the calling I have felt for years...
I have been blessed with so many opportunities in life and I am taking this chance to listen to a calling I have felt to serve aboard the AFRICA MERCY, a hospital ship that will be docking in Senegal next year. I will be spending three weeks in February serving as an OR nurse, treating conditions that are rarely found in the United States. I am using three weeks of vacation time to to fly to Senegal and work 45 hour weeks. I will be using this money to pay for my flight and for my room and board. Mercy Ships does everything they can to provide the most surgeries and greatest level of care to the greatest number of individuals. Therefore the crew are all volunteers who pay to live on the ship! I am inviting you to join me on this journey by donating any amount to help me use my talents to further His mission by spreading love and hope to some of the poorest people in the world.
Your prayers and financial support will be a great benefit to my family and me. Thank you for your support.
