On February 13th, Mercy had a life changing moment that flipped her world upside down. At the time of this event, Mercy was 7 months pregnant with a baby girl. Due to unforeseen circumstances, she was rushed to the hospital where she required an emergency C-Section. Unfortunately, the baby did not make it. At that moment we thought this was the only battle that she would have to face. Little did we know, she herself was fighting for her life without a pulse for nearly an hour on the operating room table. Although the code blue was successful in resuscitation this was just the beginning of the battle for her life.
Mercy had a spontaneous rupture of the spleen that although rare it is often fatal. Mercy has been in the ICU for over 5 weeks with multiple organ failure. Mercy has required countless procedures including but not limited to: intubation for ventilation, dialysis, fasciotomy, multiple abdominal surgeries with resultant ileostomy, and the most difficult yet to come being amputation of portions of both hands and feet.
As of today, we are forever grateful that Mercy is finally breathing on her own, speaking, recognizing loved ones, and above all smiling. Our mercy is a fighter and her strength and perseverance is the reason she’s still here today. Although she has been through a tough road thus far the battle is far from over.
There are many hurdles she will have to overcome; the financial burden should not be one of them. Any donations received will go to Mercy and her family to assist with the abundant medical bills for her hospitalization, the forthcoming countless office visits, multitude of therapies both physical and psychological and finally functional prosthetics, that we hope will assist in providing her the best quality of life and allow her to continue to pursue her life goals.
While she remains in critical condition, we are optimistic that Mercy’s strong and fighting nature, along with the support from all who love her, will carry her through this extremely difficult time. We send our deepest gratitude to the many health care workers involved, they are truly modern-day superheroes.
We thank you all for your prayers and support. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please share this link. Thank you!
